Why Learn about Being A Good Partner?

To a large extent, the quality of your community engagement experience is up to you.

Creating a good relationship between you and your community partner (or anyone) doesn't just happen—it takes some practice. This module outlines the practices necessary for being a good partner.

Learning Objectives

This module will help you:

  • Understand the practices associated with partnership building.
  • Understand the skills you need to be a good partner.

Module Preview and Integration

This module describes how to work responsively with community partners and teammates. It builds on a growing set of understandings and practices outlined in previous modules. Module 1 describes the opportunities students have to be engaged in community partnerships. Module 2 explains that at the center of a good partnership is a person who understands others by knowing her- or himself. Module 2 also sets the stage for good partnerships by helping us to understand and honor diversity.
